THE INTERROGATION OF EMILY MAY/SCENE TWO

Scene Two

The setting is a dull and grey and essential state secret service headquarters, all the room resemble each other to confuse the viewer, all the agent are wearing the same kind of dress impossible to tell who is who and they address themselves by their agent numbers, although in the State Secret canteen they refer each other mysteriously as “Eddie B, Eddie C” and so on.

Emily May is brought into one of the Grey rooms with bolted black wood doors so thick, that even if she continuously screams for fifteen minutes not even a note would have reached the outside, this is of course only true in certain cases; for example if a red button is pressed from the outside and then the screams are amplified and the voice spreads like the local radio in the air.

Agent 00 is a very important man; he heads this mission and is responsible for everything that goes on in the State Secret headquarters and he looks quite pleased with the capture of Emily May.

Agent 00: Uh..Um(clears his throat..fails does it again) Uh..um

Agent 11 ½: Chicklet sir?

Agent 00: Uh..um no thank you and agent 11 ½ I don’t have to remind you that outside perishables are not allowed in the State HQ’

Agent 11 ½ : Oh sorry sir

Agent 00: No problem, nothing like breaking the rules once in a while isn’t it agent?

Agent 11 ½ : I exercise my fundamental rights by not commenting

Agent 00: Very well, so who will be interrogating Ms. May?

Agent 06: That is the reason we have gathered here, haven’t we senior agent

Agent 00: quite, quite. I think we must give Agent 8 ½ a try, who do oppose the statement?

Of the three people gathered there, none of them raises their hands

Agent 00: democratically we have accomplished that Agent 8 ½ will be the agent in charge of the enquiry, you may now disperse agents

Agents 11 ½ and 06 walk away from the meeting area and when they are away from hearing distance

Agent 11 ½ and 06 in unison: Bloody Red tape!

It was known that agent 8 ½ was the son of agent 00, that was why he was made agent 8 ½ in the first place and like every democratic organization in this world, no one dared to go against the boss in this case Agent 00.

Unknown to these two gullible naïve and democratic agents, Agent 00 was secretly taping whatever they said using the State Secret Taping Device designed by the State Secret Designing department which was present in an underground lab few meters away from the main building and mainly consisted of high IQ Russian red heads (women) who basically designed whatever was required.

“Bloody Red Tape! Bloody red Tape!” those words echoed into the ears from the listening device

Agent 00: Hello?

Agent 67: OK Boss

Agent 00: Terminate two silly looking agents walking towards you, identification, both of them are always smiling and think they really are Tom Cruises just because they work in the State Department, kill them and send some flowers to their spouses, Agent 06’s wife has a special liking to white roses and update the social network of the state department on the death of two agents, they were killed in the line of duty and bring me Agent 8 ½!

Agent 67: OK Boss

The Interrogation of Emily May

THE INTERROGATION OF EMILY MAY

A HORROR PLAY

Scene One

The setting is a crowded street well after midnight, the crowd are returning from a very bad live music program, curse words are heard here and there; a section of the crowd is waiting near the rear entrance with smoke bombs and baseball bats to thrash the performers when they come after cleaning their faces of black paint. Unknown to all this there is a blonde girl running, she also happens to a vampire and her name is May, Emily May.

Unknown to Emily May, a black SUV with brown spot designs is crawling along the traffic, the SUV is after all a state vehicle and its occupants are stout agent 67 and his superior officer agent 23. The numbers of the agents are decided based on the number of unsolved cases they have and not the number of times they have been suspended as it is popularly believed to be.

Agent 67: Boss, I see her now; she’s running down the street

Agent 23: Copy that, we have our suspect namely Emily May aged twenty, quite good looking female, too good looking to be called a vampire, she is on the run. Repeat she is on the run.

Radio: then chase her, that’s what we pay you for and give you petrol allowance

Agent 67: OK Boss,

Agent 23: That’s not the Boss, you idiot it’s the pretty female who sits behind the micro-phone at the office

Agent 67: OK Boss

Agent 67 who is also the driver steers the car to ‘chase the vampire’ gear and suitable chase music is heard behind. They are gaining on her, but vampires are taught in school to outrun state vehicles.

Emily May, looks back and taunts Agent 23 then giggles like a school girl and slows down, unknown to her the state has developed a new gear namely the ‘run down the vampire’ gear. Soon Emily May finds her tongue licking dry asphalt and the state vehicle stops a few paces ahead.

Agent 23: We have our suspect namely Emily May aged twenty, lying face down presumably knocked out that saves us one shot of vampire tranquilizer for the day and saves 15% on our overall ‘curb the vampire project’ in the long run.

Radio: Bring her in Agent 23, and you talk too much, talking about saving vampire tranquilizer won’t get you any promotion and besides im happily married.

Agent 67: OK Boss
